With a lot of attention on the Chicago Bears' quarterback Caleb Williams and the resilient defense, more needs to be discussed about how great this offense truly is.
The Bears are coming off what was kind of a down game for the offense despite putting up 31 points in their 31-28 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12. Despite just 328 yards of offense, the Bears were efficient on third down (7 of 13), and quarterback Caleb Williams threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.
Former NFL quarterback turned commentator Kurt Warner took to social media after watching the tape on the Bears. Warner shared what he heard about Bears head coach Ben Johnson and how his offense provides the proof.
"Someone told me recently that Ben Johnson has been influenced greatly by Mike Martz & as I continue to study the film there is no doubt! The number of ways they run “PINCH” (Big In w/ Influence Post inside of it) is awesome - that’s the “Route that Built my House” & is good vs every coverage, so can’t have it enough ways IMO!!"
Bears' offense showing good things that is proving they have taken a massive leap
After a horrible 2024 campaign with 68 sacks allowed and three different play callers, the Bears' offense is humming under Johnson running the show. Chicago transformed in one year from the laughing stock of the NFL to one of the best units in the league.
The Bears are ranked sixth in the NFL in total offense, averaging 369.9 yards per game, and eighth in points with 26.3 points per game. Most of that has been powered by the running game, which ranks second in rushing yards per game at 142.3.
Another massive part of this offense doing well is the lack of turnovers they give up; they have only eight on the year, ranking third in the NFL. The Bears are first in turnover differential at +16.
Stats aside, this offense is fundamentally sound due to how disciplined Johnson was in training camp and pushing this unit to be great. From the route running to what Williams is looking at pre-snap, Johnson has built a juggernaut in this offense.

They may not be the high-flying offense that Martz and Warner had with the St. Louis Rams back in the day, but they are still performing well to help this Chicago team sit at 8-3 with six games to go.
