Kyle Monangai's wild realization after viral play in Bears' loss to Packers

In a game with multiple incredible plays, despite the disappointing result, there was one that wasn't necessarily a big play but that everyone was talking about.

During the Chicago Bears' 28-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 14, rookie running back Kyle Monangai had quite the moment in the game that caught the attention of everyone. Monangai was running with the football when he collided with linebacker Edgerrin Cooper , causing pieces of Cooper's helmet to fly through the air from the hard impact of their helmets, and a massive thud to be heard on television.

Days after the play, Monangai was asked about the moment by reporters. The rookie didn't realize the impact it had until after the game.

"I didn't know it was that bad until I got to my phone in the locker room, honestly. But yeah, it was a pretty big collision. I wish I got more yards out of it."

Monangai is putting together quite the rookie season for the Bears

It indeed continues to be one of the stunning storylines of the season for the Bears, as they see a seventh-round pick becoming the most impactful rookie on the roster this season. Monangai was asked to step up sooner than expected and has answered the call.

In 13 games, Monangai has rushed for 648 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Out of the 135 carries on the season, 33 of them have gone for first downs.

What has made it work this season is the combination of Monanagi and D'Andre Swift working so well together. Swift is more of the speed guy on the outside, while Monangai is more of the power back who isn't afraid of contact.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson couldn't have asked for anything better out of his rookie running back, and Monangai is showing that he has a long career ahead of him.
