No matter what NFL insider you turn to, there has been a strong connection between the Chicago Bears and Ashton Jeanty.

The Bears hold the No. 10 selection, and by all accounts, the team is hopeful that Jeanty falls to them. Jeanty falling to the Bears is far from a lock. The common expectation has been that Jeanty would be off the board by the time the Las Vegas Raiders are making their selection at No. 6. Given the speculation, the idea of the Bears moving up in the draft hasn't been entirely ruled out.

Perhaps, that is why the odds on the team selecting Jeanty have shifted dramatically on Thursday.

The two teams behind the Bears as the favorites to draft Jeanty are the aforementioned Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars hold the No. 5 selection, and if the Bears were to trade up in the draft, Jacksonville would be a likely trade partner.

The Bears moving from No. 10 to No. 5 isn't as much of a reach as some fans may think it is. The Bears' No. 10 draft would be included in a theoretical trade in addition to one of the two second-round picks the Bears have. Beyond that, there would likely be an exchange of picks in the later rounds. For that reason, if the Bears truly are locked onto the idea of adding Jeanty to their offense, moving up in the draft may not be as wild as it sounds in principle.

After addressing the offensive line in free agency, it seems clear that the Bears are locked onto the idea of adding a running back to Johnson's offense. Johnson mastered the run game with the Detroit Lions thanks to the tandem of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. Jeanty could give the Bears their version of that with D'Andre Swift included as the other running back.
