Since the lack of emphasis placed on the running back position during the 2025 NFL Draft, one of the most popular post-draft fits has been putting Nick Chubb in Ben Johnson's Chicago Bears back field.
And, if the latest report is any indication, there seems to be no chance that Chubb returns to the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns have reportedly not been in strong communication with Chubb as of late, which makes it sound like the veteran will officially be playing elsewhere in 2025.
It makes perfect sense, too, with the Browns having drafted a pair of running backs in Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson.
The door is wide open for Ryan Poles to sign Nick Chubb
Despite there being tons of hype around seventh-round rookie Kyle Monangai, one might still argue there is a need to add more running back talent on this Bears roster.
Chubb is still a free agent, of course, and is coming off a season which saw his campaign come to an early end after a catastrophic knee injury. Yet, he has made it abundantly clear that he is feeling perfectly fine in some recent workout videos.

While there is still a portion of the fan base who believes in Roschon Johnson, he has yet to get a real opportunity. We aren't quite sure, yet, what Johnson thinks of the third-year pro.
D'Andre Swift, meanwhile, seems like he'll have a decent role in the offense still. Swift is a capable back if there is enough blocking in front of him, but someone like Chubb gives the Bears a running back who is even better at shedding tacklers and gaining tough yardage.
If Monangai is seen more as a back who can take a leap in a year or so, then Chubb would be a fantastic fit. He and Swift are different backs, but on the hand, the two of them are capable pass catchers which would give Johnson some flexibility at times.
