The Chicago Bears need to get more from their rookie draft class. While that may happen as the year goes on, it certainly has not happened yet, as they rank 29th overall in snaps from their rookie class.
Chicago Bears are not getting enough from their rookie class
To be fair, some of that has to do with Colston Loveland being banged up. On the other end, some of that has to do with Loveland not getting on the field enough when he is healthy. He is the 10th overall pick and went ahead of Tyler Warren, who is being talked about as a Rookie of the Year candidate.
Luther Burden is electric with the ball in his hands, but is playing behind Olamide Zaccheus. This seems like the one big hit that will turn around for the Bears soon.
Ozzy Trapilo is supposed to be starting at left tackle, but Theo Benedet beat him out. Shemar Turner and Kyle Monangai are slowly developing roles, but every other pick in this class has been a dud so far.
The need to play Loveland and Burden more, and it is hard to see the path to Trapilo being a hit any time soon, which could be an issue.
This is not the first draft class from Ryan Poles that has led to questions, especially in the rookie season. Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze are coming along this season, but they were very slow starters. Kiran Amegadjie and Austin Booker have no roles at all.
Gervon Dexter and Tyrique Stevenson have developed into passable players, while Darnell Wright has always been a contributor at right tackle. Still, Zacch Pickens and Tyler Scott are already gone, and Roschon Johnson does not see the field. Noah Sewell is the only hit after round two in the past two classes.
Braxton Jones was a hit, but just got replaced and will leave in free agency. Velus Jones plays for the Saints, but Zachary Thomas, Trestan Ebner, Doug Kramer, Ja’Tyre Carter, and even Trenton Gill do not have any roles.

Poles has made some trades and free agent moves along with a few hits in the first two rounds, but this team is not made up of draft picks, and the early signs from this class are to expect the same.
