The reactions from the Chicago Bears hiring Ben Johnson to be their head coach a few months back came in quickly from around the NFL world, but those reactions have still not come to an end.

Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes was on the Green Light podcast with former NFL veteran Chris Long and was asked about losing Johnson to Chicago.

"I really didn't know which way it was going to go. I was thinking Chicago would have probably been the last destination ... or I was hoping," he told Long.

Brad Holmes may be happy for Ben Johnson, but it still stung to see him go

Johnson's former general manager was still happy for him getting to this point, even though it happened to be with a division rival.

"I was happy for him, man. He is a hell of a coach, man. They have a really good one up there."

Still, he couldn't help but still feel some type of way about the fact that it had to be the Bears.

"It's a little like, man, why Chicago?" Holmes admitted.

Bears fans would have to admit they'd probably feel a lot of different things if this was the other way around. Lions fans have offered up plenty of reactions over the last few months and they can say whatever they want, but the reality is, Holmes' take it right on the money.

And, it's pretty funny if you're a Bears fan.

As a Lions fan, you're probably still trying to convince yourself that the team is going to be just fine without Johnson. Maybe you're even in the extreme category of "we don't need him," in which case, you'd also be hilariously wrong.

Holmes knew what type of coach his organization was losing. It's just a bummer for Detroit that Johnson wound up going to a rival. Now, Johnson gets his chance to prove he is more than just a good fit in Detroit -- he's a great coach, any way you spin it.
