What an environment!

One of the most underrated environments in the NFL is a place that Chicago Bears fans have known for over a century: Soldier Field.

It has become a historic site for all NFL fans to check off their bucket lists and a place for all sports fans to visit. Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze recently opened up about what it is like to play in Soldier Field as part of the promotional work for Madden 27, a game that features quarterback Caleb Williams on the cover.

“It’s lit," Odunze said. "The crowd is rowdy. Chicagoans are very energetic when it comes to their football team and they don’t play about it. It’s a hostile environment for the enemy teams, which we love.”

Rome Odunze praises Bears fans at Soldier Field

The Bears know all too well how much of an advantage they have at Soldier Field and how great an environment it is. Last season, the team went 6-2 at home in the regular season and went 1-1 in the postseason.

Last season, the Bears arguably had two of the best games in the NFL played right on Soldier Field. They both happen to be Green Bay Packers games in which the Bears erased double-digit deficits to stun the Packers with wins.

There is a ton of history at Soldier Field, and some of the great moments in NFL history have happened there. Bears legendary running back Walter Payton broke the all-time NFL record for career rushing yards in that stadium. How about the Fog Bowl back in 1988 against the Philadelphia Eagles, which happened right there in Chicago?

Soldier Field has truly become a home-field advantage for the Bears, as while it may be a bit old, the history behind it makes it worth seeing for any NFL fan. It's too bad the team won't be playing there for long.

The storylines behind the Bears' moving their new $5 billion stadium to either Arlington Heights, Illinois, or Hammond, Indiana, have been very public over the last few months. It appears for the moment that the new stadium is headed to Indiana, which is considerably worse than just the idea of the team moving out of Chicago.

It's a shame the run is almost over at Soldier Field because it is considered an institution in the NFL. Until that happens, Bears fans need to enjoy the next five years of playing in one of the best stadiums in sports.
