It was a nice, relaxing weekend for Chicago Bears fans after having the bye week with their team sitting in a pretty good 2-2 record. While scrolling through the remote for games to watch, one might have caught their attention.

The Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets game didn't look like a sexy game on paper, but for Bears fans, it two former Chicago people going at it. It was the original franchise quarterback, Justin Fields, and his Jets up against former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus (now defensive coordinator) and the Cowboys.

There was a lot of chatter this week about Eberflus having the edge in the game since he knew Fields so well. The two were together in Chicago for two seasons before the Bears moved on from Fields and decided to select Caleb Williams first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Neither guy wouldn't say it, but this game had a little extra juice to get revenge on each other for how things turned out (maybe a little more from Fields). This turned out to be a one-sided affair.

Eberflus gets the best of Fields in the Cowboys-Jets game

Fields did not have a particularly great game as he threw the ball 46 times, completing 32 of them for 283 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked five times by the Cowboys' defense and only ran for 26 yards.

Eberflus's defense was outstanding, as they held the Jets to just six points through three quarters, with the Cowboys leading 30-6 going into the fourth quarter. His unit did a great job of containing Fields in the pocket and forcing him to beat them through the air.

The result? It was Dallas who picked up a 37-22 win over New York. The Cowboys improved to 2-2 on the season, while the Jets remained winless at 0-5.

This was an anticlimactic game for Bears fans, as Eberflus won this battle easily. However, Chicago won't care much after taking care of the Cowboys a few weeks ago, 31-14. So, Eberflus got his revenge against Fields, but the Bears got the real last laugh on the Cowboys already.
