Vikings' mock draft pick would back Bears into corner on their first-round pick

Yeah that would do it.

The Chicago Bears are coming off one of their best seasons in over a decade, but now face the pressure of trying to get back on top and win a Super Bowl this time.

A big reason for their success last year was their draft class, with four selections becoming impact players. The same will have to happen during the 2026 NFL Draft so they don't lose ground in the NFC North and the NFL in general, but one mock draft scenario might turn out to be more of a nightmare for the Bears than expected.

NFL analyst Charles Davis released his first mock draft, in which he has the Minnesota Vikings taking Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, a popular name for the Bears in mock drafts this season. Love's selection would force Chicago to react and select Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks.

"Despite missing most of the 2025 season with a foot injury, Banks reignited excitement about his potential during Senior Bowl week. He provides the Bears with the push they want to create inside."

Vikings' selection could completely throw off the Bears

There has been speculation in Minnesota that they could cut either Aaron Jones or Jordan Mason from the backfield and select one in the draft. If the Vikings get their hands on Love, that could completely flip the NFC North and give the Bears a major problem to try to defend twice a year.

Chicago's run defense was already rough enough as they allowed 134.5 yards per game on the ground in 2025, ranking 27th in the NFL. That has put a big focus on making sure the Bears' front seven is solid this offseason.

It all starts with the defensive line, which has been disappointing with its big free-agent signings, Grady Jarrett and Dayo Odeyingbo. That would make the Banks selection that much more imperative, as he excelled with the Gators because of his ability to stop the running game.

If Love ends up being the selection for Minnesota, the Bears might have to do more than pick Banks in the draft, as they would have to deal with Jahmyr Gibbs, Josh Jacobs, and Love all in the same division six games out of the year. That would be a worst nightmare for Dennis Allen and his defense.
