If the Chicago Bears could have gotten edge rusher Myles Garrett, it could have completely changed things for the franchise, but that is not going to be the case anymore.
NFL insiders Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport, and Tom Pelissero reported that the Cleveland Browns are sending Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. Cleveland will be receiving at least one first-round pick, multiple other draft picks, and edge rusher Jared Verse.
Garrett won Defensive Player of the Year last season after breaking the NFL record for sacks in a season with 23. He has also been to seven Pro Bowls, earned five first-team All-Pro selections and two second-team All-Pro selections, and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.
Bears are completely cursed with not getting Myles Garrett in a trade
The Bears were probably never in it in the first place, despite their names being brought up before the trade as a possibility. It wouldn't have worked right away anyway, since Chicago doesn't have the cap space to pay Garrett in 2026 and beyond.
Bears general manager, Ryan Poles, has done nothing at the edge rusher position since they believe they have the right pieces in place already. They have Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, and Dayo Odeyingbo leading the way.
This is a Bears team that struggled with the pass rush, as they got only 33 sacks in 17 games, with fewer than six teams. They really needed more help and support there, but it was never addressed.

Now the Bears have no choice but to hope Booker has the breakout season the franchise expects. At least the good news is that Chicago doesn't have to worry about playing Garrett in the regular season.
