The reality of last season for the Chicago Bears was that they struggled on all three levels of defense, from the defensive line to the secondary.

Their defensive line struggled to generate pressure on the quarterback, and the interior linemen just didn't get enough penetration to make an impact. That's what led the Bears to look at and sign former Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Neville Gallimore to a two-year, $12 million deal.

Gallimore spoke with the media for the first time since his signing and opened up about what kind of player the Bears are getting. The fan base will be pleased to hear what he has to say.

"My effort and my desire to compete at a high level, I think, speaks volumes. It's something I take pride in," Gallimore said via The Score's Chris Emma. "I think the effort and desire to be at 100% and not take plays off, that's something I take pride in. It's carried me up until to this point. It's been a part of my journey."

Neville Gallimore shares more about his impact on the Bears in 2026

Last year, Gallimore racked up 38 tackles, six quarterback hits, four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and three pass deflections in 17 games with the Colts. He posted a Pro Football Focus grade of 56.6, the 77th highest out of 134 interior defensive linemen in the NFL.

The Bears were hoping to get better production from their free agent signing from last offseason, Grady Jarrett, but struggled to deliver much. Gervon Dexter was the best defensive tackle on the team, second on the Bears with six sacks.

Gallimore most likely has a rotational role on the Bears and won't start unless injuries occur. He is a solid defender who can help the Bears add more size to the line.
