NFL insider floats wild scenario where Bears trade for one of NFL's best head coaches
Firing a coach in the middle of the season is fun for two reasons. First, it means that the year is officially over and there's no reason to get angry about what happens in the final six weeks of the season. As the holidays arrive, the Bears' white flag couldn't have arrived at a better time.
Secondly, it means that we all get to sit around and listen to the most insane speculation. Like Kevin Warren said in his press conference on Monday morning, the Bears' job figures to be one of, if not the, best openings on the market this year – with plenty of intriguing candidates out there to match. For the next two months, we're going to get the most unhinged radio and TV hits full of soundbites that are practically begging to be aggregated.

First up, of course, is Mike Florio. The Pro Football Talk NFL insider was doing his weekly hit on local Chicago sports radio station 670 The Score, and had one of the most Mike Florio Ideas that you'll hear all week: just trade for Kyle Shanahan!
Mike Florio thinks Bears should consider idea of trading for Kyle Shanahan
"I feel like he's on the Andy Reid path, where he's never going to reach his full potential unless he goes to a new team ... " Florio said. "How much would you give up to get him? I think you should at least have that conversation, because the 49ers almost traded Jim Harbaugh to the Browns 10 years ago. Harbaugh ultimately said no, or they would have done it. So, who knows. If Jed York's thinking about making a change, this might be a great opportunity."
Credit where it's due: Florio builds an intriguing argument. The Andy Reid path! All it would take for Shanahan to become a perennial title contender and one of the best coaches in history would be a trade to the Bears! I'm sold. The Chiefs and Bears are very similar organizations, so I can see why the connection is so obvious.
And truthfully, Shanahan would actually check both boxes: he's clearly one of the best offensive minds in football, which would be a nice change of pace at Halas Hall. He's also got enough "leader of men" reputation to entice Warren and ownership, who will never not be obsessed with finding someone with the personality of a NFL coach from the 1980s.
Just go get one of the best coaches in the NFL and win a bunch of Super Bowls. The Chiefs did it, how hard can it be?
