NFL legend said what Bears fans know to be true about their offense

This 2026 Chicago Bears offense has a chance to be one of the NFL's elite units in a long time.

Having a head coach like Ben Johnson gives the team enough confidence to feel that way. They have a ton of talent led by quarterback Caleb Williams. His skill guys, though, are undeniable, including Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, Kyle Monangai, D'Andre Swift, and Colston Loveland.

Former NFL player Steve Smith Sr. spoke about the Bears' offense and had a ton of praise for them. Smith pointed out the potential of the wide receiver room that Johnson will be able to unleash.

“I believe they can be one of the best young rooms in the NFL," Smith said. "This WR room is hitting every level of the field, and they have one of the best masterminds. This is going to be a really good year….you might be looking at the division winners right here.”

On his social media post about his comments, Smith added more to what he said about the wide receivers and Johnson.

"There is NO defense that Ben Johnson is scared of with this Bears WR Room. I fully expect them to be contenders in the NFC with this offensive talent and playcalling."

Johnson transformed this offense from one of the worst in the NFL in 2024 to sixth last season. A lot of that is because of the development of Williams, but also because of the extra pieces Johnson added and the coaching awareness to put people in the right place.

Odunze can do it all as a receiver, but a foot injury stopped him from having a 1,000-yard season. Burden is a deep threat that is going to be a nightmare to tackle on first contact if a screen pass is thrown his way.

The rest of the Bears wide receiver room is criminally underrated, as some have concerns after the trade of DJ Moore in the offseason. Kalif Raymond knows Johnson's offense from their days with the Detroit Lions, so he should make for a great WR3. Jahdae Walker came on strong late last year with two touchdowns in the last three weeks, proving he deserves a spot on the field. Rookie Zavion Thomas' 4.28-second speed is undeniable and can really help this offense out.

Johnson has a plan for this offense, and the wide receivers have a chance to play a massive role in that. They are going to be dangerous to deal with in 2026.
