Olamide Zaccheaus could be in for a breakout game for Bears against Cowboys

This Week 3 matchup between the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys has some commonalities between the two teams.

Defensively, both are struggling to apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks. However, the offenses for Chicago and Dallas are likely looking at the weaknesses in the respective defenses as prime opportunities.

In the Cowboys’ overtime win against the New York Giants last Sunday, Russell Wilson torched the Cowboys’ defense for 450 yards and three touchdown passes on 30 of 41 pass attempts. Wan'Dale Robinson, the Giants’ slot receiver, caught eight passes for 142 yards and a touchdown.

Given Robinson's success against the Cowboys last week, this could mean Bears receiver Olamide Zaccheaus could be in store for a big day himself.

How Zaccheaus can drastically impact the Bears' passing game against Dallas

Looking at Robinson's passing chart by Next Gen Stats, he did most of his damage in between the numbers, including a 50-yard reception in the middle of the field on the Giants’ first possession of the game.

Going into this matchup, Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus heavily favors running zone compared to man defense. Dallas is first in the NFL with a 93.3% zone defense and last in man with just 6.7%.

In the Bears’ 52-21 loss to the Lions, Detroit clearly favored man concepts. So this will be a different defensive approach the Bears will face.

That means Caleb Williams will have to identify the types of coverages Eberflus is throwing at him and find the weaknesses in the defense. For Zaccheaus, that is in between the numbers.

Former Chicago Bears linebacker Jack Sanborn will be someone that Williams will have to manipulate and move with his eyes to help open up pockets for Zaccheaus and the other Bears’ pass catchers.

If Bears head coach Ben Johnson and the rest of the coaching staff did their job in preparing Williams for this week's matchup, the Bears’ quarterback and Zaccheaus could be due for a big day at Soldier Field.
