Chicago Bears training camp is heating up as the team approaches their first week of completion and there is one position group that has fans' attention: tight end.
It's most likely that Cole Kmet will start at tight end, but rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland is expected to have a big role in the offense. That was already on display as he returned from injury and looks good.
Many reports coming from Bears training camp was that Loveland had a solid practice. CHGO podcast host Adam Jahns detailed Loveland's practice as he had a good report on his performance.
"Today’s big news from Bears camp: rookie tight end Colston Loveland making three catches in 7v7 (two) and team periods (one) — including one from Caleb Williams for a first down (7v7)."

Loveland is looking more and more like a future starter
Kmet is coming off his worst season since his rookie year as him and Williams did not connect as well as he was able to with DJ Moore and Rome Odunze. Last season was a wash with three offensive play callers, a poor offensive line performance, and two head coaches.
New Bears head coach Ben Johnson has a tight end-friendly offense that will open up more opportunities for Kmet to play well. It will also be good for Loveland who is expected to be the future starter for the Bears.
Chicago will now have the ability to run two tight end sets, which will help with Williams getting more help in pass protection before getting rid of the ball quickly. Loveland and Kmet's combination makes for one of the best one-two tight end combos in the NFL.
The last-ranked offense from a season ago needed a makeover and more offensive weapons to add to the roster. Loveland and Luther Burden III are top Bears picks who hope Williams can build early chemistry that will last a long time in Chicago.

Loveland already looks like a solid future starter at tight end and more practice performances like the one he had will lead to him pulling an upset and winning the starting job.
