2. The Chicago Bears are done with Velus Jones
One of the best qualities that Ryan Poles possesses as the Chicago Bears General Manager is his ability to admit a mistake and move on. He did so with Chase Claypool and he primarily did so with Velus Jones as well. Of course, Jones is still on the roster, but that may not be for long.
At least Poles went out and added help after Jones did nothing in year one. When Jones could not get on the field in year two, Poles made sure he was not a receiving option. Velus Jones may stick around the roster because of his kickoff return abilities. The league has made this play more exciting again, and the Bears could use his skill set.
At the same time, the Bears added DeAndre Carter, who has solid return abilities. Carter also has more punt return ability than Jones, so he could provide more value. Even Nsimba Webster will push Jones to take on this role.
The Bears have their big three starters, Tyler Scott is in year two, and then Carter may be the fifth receiver. The room is tightening up and Jones may not be a part of it much longer.
