The Chicago Bears roster is much improved from just a couple of years ago when Ryan Poles took over. He has been able to build up a few position groups to be the strength of the roster as they head into training camp.

If the Bears take a step and become playoff contenders this season they will likely be getting key contributions from these position groups.

3. Linebacker

This had better be one of the strongest units on the team considering the assets that they put into the unit. In the past Matt Eberflus has gotten more out of less from the linebacker position. However, last offseason the Bears decided to give the former linebackers coach two of the top options on the free agent market.

The team gave Tremaine Edmunds a huge deal and ended up signing T.J. Edwards for a bit of value. It took both of them a bit to come along, but by the end of the season, it looked like they understood their roles in the defense.

Now, the duo should only get better. More than that, they have Jack Sanborn, who was a stud as a rookie UDFA in 2022. Last year the team lost Tremaine Edmunds for a few weeks and Sanborn had fans hardly noticing the drop off.

The Bears also drafted Noah Sewell in 2023. He hardly played as a rookie, but this is quality depth for your fourth linebacker. Even names such as Amen Ogbongbemiga and Micah Baskerville provide depth to this room that completes the unit.
