The preseason may not be the fan's favorite portion of the year, but plenty of jobs will be won and lost in the next month or so. The Chicago Bears are the rare team to have a fourth preseason game, which means an extra long look at some fringe roster players, or depth chart battles.

Which defensive players could gain the most in the Bears' first preseason game?

5. Austin Booker

The preseason is highly valuable for someone like Austin Booker. Booker is a day three rookie and one of the big reasons why he fell in the draft was his lack of experience. On a per-snap basis, he looked great at Kansas last year, but he was a situational pass rusher and that was the only year that he played.

So, the upside is there, but the downside is a player who may not even be able to get on an NFL field. Considering the Bears' lack of depth at edge rusher, they really need Booker to hit, at the very least they need him to be rotational depth.

His progress starts this week. The Hall of Fame Game is a great way to ease Booker in because the competition will not be too tough. Still, for Booker, anything is a test at this point. How does he respond?
