For your breaking news that is not so breaking of the day, the Chicago Bears will be listening to offers for the number one overall pick. Most fans had assumed this had been the case, but it was never cut and dry and reported. Adam Schefter of ESPN went ahead and made news Monday morning by reporting the story.

This is not surprising to many, but it does put to bed a lot of the nonsense that has been out there in the media. Because the team did not come out and say their plans aloud, the media gets to speculate on what the team will do, and many mentioned the thought of staying at number one and taking a quarterback.

It is one thing when a media member speculates, but Adam Schefter is reporting this per his sources. With that said, the talk about the team drafting a quarterback at one should die down substantially.

The next media talking point for the Chicago Bears

However, if you are ready for the next pivot, the take will be that the team could trade down, still take a quarterback, and then also add assets for Justin Fields. People will clamor for Anthony Richardson instead of Bryce Young now.

The thought will be that they can trade down, get assets, trade Fields, get assets, and still take Richardson who is younger, and cheaper than Justin Fields. If you do not believe me, just watch, this take is going to come quickly.

It is so easy to talk about the quarterback, and if you are not talking quarterback, you probably are not maximizing your reach as a media member. Adam Schefter silenced the first theory involving a quarterback, but more are going to come.

Until the team does not draft a quarterback, the talk of moving on from Justin Fields will still be here. Even after the Chicago Bears trade from the number one pick, they will find a way to bring the talking points back to the quarterback.

However, this should solidify that Justin Fields will be starting next season for the Chicago Bears.
