The Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts are both going through the exact same levels of frustration with their promising young quarterbacks. Both Caleb Williams and Anthony Richardson can make every throw in the book, but they also have some serious decision-making issues that could prevent them from reaching their full potential in 2024.

Richardson, who came into this game completing fewer than 50% of his passes, was first up in the competition to show just how wild the swings in competency can vary. Richardson found Alec Pierce down the sideline for a brilliant 50-yard pass play, but later ruined it with one of the worst plays of his career.

Richardson was picked off in the end zone after lobbing a ball into what looked like triple coverage, giving the Bears a second chance at life. Williams managed to connect with Rome Odunze with a great teardrop throw down the sideline for 47 yards, but his rookie nature managed to take hold.

Williams, pressured on third down amid another rough OL showing, threw one of the worst interceptions on his ledger going back to his days at USC. Young quarterbacks are always going to make throws like this, but Bears fans never want to see their savior screw up like this.

It didn't take the Colts long to capitalize on this, as Jonathan Taylor scampered to the end zone after Indianapolis punched back. Despite the Colts coming off a very tough showing on defense at the hands of Malik Willis and the Packers, Chicago has largely been unable to make them pay.

Between the Williams interception and a missed field goal from Cairo Santos, the Bears have been unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities despite some strong drives in which they moved the ball down the field. This could come back to haunt them in a game between two evenly matched teams.

While Williams has looked better at throwing the ball deep down the field, there are some rookie mistakes that will continue to make life tough on this offense in the immediate future.
