Rookies reported for Chicago Bears training camp on Tuesday, and following Caleb Williams' media session on Friday, Williams had a pro response when asked about reps in the preseason.

To some, the preseason isn't all that important, and with the preseason going from four games to three games, the idea seems to be believed by those at the top, too.

However, rookie quarterback and No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams has a different ideology surrounding the preseason.

Caleb Williams opens up about upcoming reps for Chicago Bears in preseason

Since being drafted with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams has been a main focal point of the Chicago Bears' offseason. Whether it be the pick itself, Williams' contract, whether his teammates vouch for him, or a plethora of other storylines, the Bears' offseason has been a bit Williams-heavy.

To be fair, the Chicago Bears have yet to hit on a franchise quarterback, making any new quarterback who comes in with expectations to be the next franchise quarterback.

However, as is seen across the league, quarterbacks who succeed in college don't automatically come into the NFL and see that same success. In fact, members of the media think Chicago Bears fans have set their expectations too high.

Williams seems to be focused to the utmost degree on being an NFL great who leaves a legacy that far outlives himself. He's even encouraged other teammates to start following his iPhone wallpaper goal list, giving the players a chance to see their goals as frequently as they look at their phones.

The main thing that stands out in Williams' response to believing any reps are valuable is that he understands the reasoning behind what it takes to be great in this league. Williams saw success in college and he wants to see that same success with the Chicago Bears.

Not only does Williams think reps in the preseason are valuable, but he finds that same value in practicing against the Bears' defense. Specifically Chicago's secondary is a group that can help Caleb Williams under the "iron sharpens iron" mentality. They're one of the top secondaries in the league, or at least have the potential to be, and they're able to give Williams looks he can learn from to make him an even more polished quarterback.

While the NFL Preseason can be a bit lackluster for fans, Williams sees them as valuable opportunities to grow his game to become the best quarterback possible.
