The reveal we've all been waiting for is here. On the first official day of the Caleb Williams Era in Chicago, the Bears' new franchise QB unveiled some appropriately-themed fingernail paint for his home debut. The debut is appropriately Chicago in every way. I don't think it would make fans want to run through a brick wall, but I'd bet it make them do something, like, 15% less intense than that – it's a long season.

Even still, Williams delivered:

Why does Caleb Williams paint his nails?

Because it's cool? But also, his mom was a nail technician while he was growing up, and it's long been his on-field tribute to her. That's the fun thing about this: all the reasons are equally rad.

I love it. I love the coordinating colors, the simple "Da Bears," the whole thing. The friendship bracelet is a nice touch as well, but the fingernails are the star of the show. If this means we're going to be getting a different set every week, and we get to track it like the new, Gen-Z version of UniWatch, then sign me up. It's a fun schtick that showcases his personality and makes all the dopiest people on Twitter extremely Mad On The Internet, so there's really no downside.

And honestly, I hope that they get a little more bold in the future – orange and blue is a nice, safe Week 1 choice, but the options are endless this season. (Some Chicago PR firm is desperately trying to pitch him on turning them into ad space, I'm so sure of it.)

Week 1 is here. Caleb Williams is here. Everything is right in the world, and nothing can hurt Bears fans. It's going to work this time, and Chicago's days in the quarterback desert are a thing of the past. Stay tuned for October, when we try and breakdown what Williams' fingernail paint means for the future of his time in Chicago. You know we're going there eventually.
