The Chicago Bears fell to the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football in Week 2 and the game was chosen because it was young quarterback phenom C.J. Stroud against Caleb Williams, who Bears fans are hoping becomes a phenom. While the conversation between Stroud and Williams after the game went viral, Stroud also had fun with Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson.
More Bears news
Stroud approached Johnson during the game and said "Stop telling your secrets on Richard Sherman's podcast, dude." Johnson responded by asking Stroud what he meant and Stroud clarified with the palms look that Johnson discussed with Sherman when discussing a pick he had against the Vikings last year. "You ain't slick. You ain't getting me. You ain't getting me!"
C.J. Stroud told Jaylon Johnson to stop revealing his secrets
The Bears drafted Johnson in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and he's in his fifth year with the team. He had a pick off Will Levis in the Week 1 opener (not the one that made him fall to his knees though). Johnson didn't have any interceptions off Stroud in Week 2 so the Texans quarterback was correct in saying that Johnson wasn't going to pick him off.
Johnson might not have picked off Stroud but in his defense, it's hard to get interceptions off the Texans' second overall pick from a season ago. Stroud had just five interceptions as a rookie and has yet to throw a pick through two games this season. He's very good at taking care of the football.
The Bears defense allowed him to throw for 260 yards and one touchdown and they kept the game close. It was the offense that couldn't get anything going, which hopefully will change soon.
Johnson won't have an opportunity to respond to Stroud and try to get revenge for this comment unless these two teams meet in the Super Bowl. Let's wish that into existence.
