Chicago Bears Round 4 | Pick No. 134: DeWayne McBride, HB

Finally jumping back to the other side of the ball to give Justin Fields some more help and weapons. With the pending departure of David Montgomery looming, the Bears can't ride into 2023 with Khalil Herbert, Darrynton Evans, and Trestan Ebner. They need to find a guy that can at least split carries with Herbert.

DeWayne McBride may be the most productive runner to be entering the 2023 NFL Draft. He finished 2022 with 1,713 yards and 19 touchdowns. With the production, he proves it with his ability to do-it-all. He has a rare blend of size, speed, and physicality you would love to see amongst running backs. Much like Montgomery, McBride has incredibly contact balance in which it is rare that the first guy to hit him will bring him down. Bringing his physicality with Herbert's ability to break away crazy runs would be a great split backfield.

The only concern with adding him is that this still leaves the Bears without a true 3rd down back who can catch out of the backfield and pass block. Both Herbert and McBride have virtually zero third down value. McBride can still develop it, but I would imagine the Bears need to find a running back that can help them in that department.
