The 2023 Chicago Bears are nearly ready to roll Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers.
With roster cuts mostly in the rear view, the Bears' 53-man roster is pretty much set. Chicago made some moves following the big wave of cuts, between a trade and a couple of signings, and now Matt Eberflus knows what he has to work with going forward.
When it comes to evaluating and analyzing this wave of moves that got us to the Bears' roster, there were several takeaways to be had. In a nutshell, this regime is nothing like the previous one.
1. The offensive line will continue to be in flux
The Bears made a trade to acquire former Miami Dolphins interior offensive lineman Dan Feeney during the madness of the previous few days, giving them a veteran presence up front who can play both guard and center. Feeney isn't an all-world talent by any means, but he's a capable starter at multiple positions.
Chicago still has to worry about Cody Whitehair's hand getting up to full health, but when it does, is he even going back to center? That remains to be seen.
Teven Jenkins is going to be out a little while, so the Bears have options at center between Feeney and Lucas Patrick. The fact that Jenkins is really the only lineman who cannot play right now is actually a positive, all things considered.
In any event, it seems nothing is set in stone with this group at the moment. We'll continue to see how it unfolds.
