Caleb Williams has not only been the focus in Chicago, but around the NFL as well. The Chicago Bears’ first overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft has garnered plenty of attention and high praise from analysts and former players, and now current players around the league are starting to take notice. One of those players is Dallas Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons.

This week, Parsons began hosting the second season of his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons. One of the topics discussed involved the divisions Parsons thought would be the most competitive in the NFL in 2024. When mentioning the NFC North as a strong division, the first team Parsons pointed out was none other than the Bears. The first player he named? You guessed it, Caleb Williams.

“I think the Bears have made one of the greatest offseasons and what we’ve seen from Caleb Williams, I mean that was a great opening day,” said Parsons. “I don’t care what anybody says, his timing, whatever. It’s a great opening day. He does have to do it in the regular season, but he made some amazing throws, he did some amazing things out there.”

Parsons was referring to Caleb Williams’ much anticipated preseason debut in Buffalo against the Bills on August 10. This was the first time that Williams suited up for an NFL game after a summer of predictions and high expectations, and he did not disappoint.

It’s somewhat interesting that Parsons hyped up the Bears given the viral rumors of him being potentially traded from the Cowboys to the Bears. Of course, this rumor has no merit or verifiable source of legitimacy, but it’s provided Bears fans with some fun twitter banter.

Parsons is entering his fourth and final year of his rookie contract in 2024. The big question in Dallas is whether the Cowboys will have enough money to pay him after dishing out a massive four-year, $136 million contract to star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Adding to the dilemma is the fact that starting quarterback Dak Prescott is seeking a mega deal as he also enters the final year of his current contract. With all the mouths to feed in Dallas, it’s easy to see where the trade speculation has stemmed from.

Regardless of the rumors, Caleb Williams earning praise from one of the NFL’s most elite young pass rushers is impressive considering he hasn’t played a game that counts yet. However, that changes in a little over a week when Williams makes his official Bears debut in week one of the regular season against the Tennessee Titans on September 8.
