With only one draft pick, the Chicago Bears have already made two trades. The first trade was the first-overall pick to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for wide receiver D.J. Moore, the ninth-overall pick, the 61st-overall pick, a 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick. Ryan Poles then made another trade on Draft Day that sent the ninth pick in the draft to the Eagles in exchange for the 10th pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick. At this point, the Bears stayed at 10 to select offensive tackle Darnell Wright.
We are a few hours away from the start of Day 2 and the Chicago Bears will be waiting a long time before they are on the clock again. As of right now, the team sits at 53. However, they also have picks 61 and 64. That's three picks in a 10-pick span to finish out the end of the second round and then start the top of the third. The thing is, will the Chicago Bears remain at those spots or will we see movement by Ryan Poles once again?
In his press conference last night, Ryan Poles mentioned the possibility of both moving up in the second round or also moving back. I would not be surprised if Poles does both. I could see them wanting to find a way to move up into the late 30s or 40s while spreading those three picks out some (might end up with only two when said and done) vs being bunched up the way they are. They can also look to send that future 2024 fourth-rounder they picked up from Philadelphia yesterday. A pick that was essentially free.
There are loose rumors that the Chicago Bears have been in talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers about moving up and re-acquiring that 32nd pick used to trade for Chase Claypool. Of course, no one knew it would be the 32nd pick when that trade was formulated.
It should be noted though that the Chicago Bears were one of the teams fielding calls last night and it sounds like many teams were interested. I don't think that deal gets done if I'm being honest. That should not stop Ryan Poles from moving up to get a guy who they value high enough. I won't say someone they gave a first-round grade to because according to Ian Cunningham, the team does not assign rounds to a prospect's draft grade - it is more to do with value.
What do you think Chicago Bears fans? Want the Bears to move up? How much are you willing to give up? Want the Bears to move back or will it depend on how far back and what is given in return? Let us know in the comments.
