Everyone keeps forgetting the Chicago Bears need a nose tackle too

When we look at this roster, I think too many Chicago Bears fans ignore the fact that they need a 1-technique as well. The 1-tech is also referred to as the nose tackle. When I think of a good nose tackle, I always look back on the days of Ted Washington. Washington was a massive human being at 6'5" and 365 pounds. He also comes with great strength that allowed him to take on double teams and eat up space. This is important because it keeps the linebackers free from blockers.

Here are names to consider:

  • Taven Bryan
  • Derrick Nnadi
  • Linval Joseph
  • Poona Ford

There are not many options for a true nose tackle in free agency. Linval Joseph is the perfect example of what I envision at the position. He is 6'4" and 330 pounds. The problem is that he's 34 years old. Therefore, I am not high on him as an option.

My Bears Choice: Derrick Nnadi

I think the perfect option here for the Chicago Bears and Ryan Poles is Derrick Nnadi. Nnadi was a third-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2018. There is obviously a bit of a connection with Ryan Poles. He is 6'1" and 320 pounds. He'd make for a great option at the nose and only 26.
