What will happen with those guys at the tail end of Chicago's roster come Week 1?

D'Anthony Jones and Trestan Ebner will not make the Bears roster

The Bears still desperately need a pass rusher, and many fans are jumping on the undrafted free agent D'Anthony Jones as a possible, sneaky savior at that position. Yet, the Houston product still has an uphill battle to make this roster. At defensive end, the Bears have three guys they're not going to part with: Trevis Gipson, Demarcus Walker and Dominique Robinson.

It will be between the veteran Rasheem Green and the undrafted Jones for that fourth spot, and the Bears likely won't carry five defensive ends. Jones could be a great candidate for the practice squad, but his raw ability and lack of experience will probably be shelved right away.

Finally, let's talk about Trestan Ebner. Last year's rookie running back could have ended up being a special teams standout and maybe even more of the Travis Homer type, but that's just the problem, here. The Bears signed Homer for that exact role. Ebner, unlike Velus Jones Jr., is a guy that Poles will admit failure on and allow the organization to part with.

There are simply too many backs ahead of him on the depth chart, anyway. Khalil Herbert, D'Onta Foreman, Roschon Johnson and Homer are all easily cemented ahead of him. And, there is no way the Bears keep five backs. It's pretty simple
