Latest Caleb Williams comments won’t sit well with Bears fans

Showing respect to your elders and one of the greats is one thing, but come on, man...

As a rookie, you learn very quickly that one of the most advantageous things you can do is to respect the veterans within your organization and those around the league. For Chicago Bears quarterback and no. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams, he has done exactly that since day one.

From the get-go, Williams has had an attitude of learning and humility. At the same time, he's done his best to lead his team. Players around him understand, already, this is his team. But, he hasn't acted entitled in the least bit.

Reports from training camp have been all positive on that front, and even in the pilot episode of this year's Hard Knocks featuring the team, we got a glimpse of how teammates view Williams when running back D'Andre Swift was seen telling his quarterback, "This is your team. You got the keys."

Speaking of training camp, NFL analyst Kay Adams caught up with Williams at camp this week and had a good conversation with the rookie. One of the topics included Williams talking about the quarterbacks he respects the most, even putting together his own top-2, right now.

Williams called Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford his no. 2, but for his top spot?

"Aaron Rodgers, right now in the game, is my number one QB," Williams said.

The rookie talked about Rodgers getting hurt last year, but that didn't deter him from placing A-Rod at the top spot.

We understand Rodgers is no longer with the Green Bay Packers, but come on Caleb, it's all still fresh in our minds. Rodgers has tormented the Bears for years, and continues to do so to this day.

"I own you" will never escape the memories of Bears fans. It's something we'll hang onto forever, and that grudge will forever live on.

Again, respecting your elders and the greats is one thing. But, can we not do this right now? Too soon, Caleb. Too soon.

Will Caleb Williams get to play against Aaron Rodgers during the 2024 season?

In the above clip, Adams also acknowledges the fact that the Bears will not play the Jets this year. So, Williams won't get a chance to play against his no. 1 quarterback in 2024. However, the Bears will face the following notable passers:

C.J. Stroud
Matthew Stafford
Kyler Murray
Jordan Love
Jared Goff
Brock Purdy

The only chance Williams will have at getting to play Rodgers, this year, is if both the Jets and Bears reach the Super Bowl.

Wouldn't that be something?

it sure would ... more like a pipe dream. Although, why not dream, if you're a fan? That'd be quite the story: rookie no. 1 overall pick taking on his franchise's most bitter rival on a new team.

Fortunately, the Bears don't have to play the likes of Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen this year which, if we're being honest, are the top two quarterbacks in the game today. Chicago also won't have to take on Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert or Lamar Jackson.

That is, unless they meet the latter three sometime later ... as in, February.
