8 major changes the Chicago Bears need to make
By Ryan Heckman
Week 3 was a good opportunity for the Chicago Bears to rally the troops after a difficult few days. It was an opportunity for Matt Eberflus and his guys to put the adversity behind them and, at the very least, play competitive football.
Instead, the Bears were trounced by the Kansas City Chiefs, 41-10.
Things couldn't get a whole lot worse than they are right now, and Bears fans are sick of it. After just three weeks in, the Bears need to start making major changes.
1. Fire Luke Getsy
You could talk all day about the things that Luke Getsy has done wrong since joining the Bears. He has been responsible for trying to make Justin Fields a pocket passer rather than allowing him to play free. He started last season not throwing the football at all, and started this season the exact opposite.
If Getsy is really supposed to come from the Shanahan tree and that style of offense, he certainly hasn't shown us. One area that has gotten to be more of a joke than anything is play action. Getsy hardly allows Fields to run play action, even though he is at his best on those play calls. And then, in situations like a third-and-long on Sunday against the Chiefs, Getsy calls a play action pass.
It's almost as if he's trying to tank this Bears offense by going completely against what makes sense. Getsy needs to go, and Bears fans know it.
