There is plenty to watch during the preseason for the Chicago Bears this year, and no spot will be more important than the offensive line. While the starters will be the players that everyone is watching, they will not play that much in the first preseason game. Instead, the attention should be on some of the depth.

The Bears are a team that has plenty of offensive linemen who can move up and down the depth chart and ensure jobs with a strong preseason. Who are the best players to watch in the next three weeks?

5. Has Alex Leatherwood improved with the Chicago Bears?

Alex Leatherwood has been a disaster in his limited time with the Chicago Bears. The team claimed him off of a whim that he still had talent, but he started the season on the IR, and when he came back, and the team tried to mix him in, he was benched immediately. The experiment looked failed.

Still, when you look at the tackle depth chart, the Bears have Braxton Jones, Darnell Wright, Larry Borom, and then a bunch of question marks. It would almost be hard for Leatherwood not to lock down the fourth tackle spot. The question is whether they need a fourth tackle.

Borom is better at both right and left tackle than Leatherwood, and we all know it. If they keep Leatherwood it is just to keep the experiment going and ensure depth.

The good news is that Leatherwood has also been working at left guard, and the flexibility between guard and tackle may be what pushes him up the roster.

In the first year, it is fine to bet on the potential, but now Leatherwood has to show something. Not something like pushing to start, but just something that says he belongs on the roster.
