A lot of the fantasy football talk around the Chicago Bears backfield is surrounding Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson. It makes sense because Herbert won the starting job, and Johnson is the emerging and exciting young rookie. However, a sleeper name to pick up who is absolutely free is D'onta Forman.

The reality is that while Herbert and Johnson have their supporters, Foreman had just as much work as the two. He had four carries for 15 yards, while Johnson had five carries for 17 yards, and Herbert had nine carries for 13 yards. Foreman is right there. He had seven targets and carries, while Johnson and Herbert had 12 each.

More than that, while Johnson did not get on the field until garbage time, Foreman played with Herbert in the early part of the game, and he played with Johnson later in the game as well.

Overall, Foreman played 21 snaps, while Johnson played 26, and Herbert played 25. It is easy to see why some would want Herbert and Johnson to be the top two rushers in this attack, but Foreman is going to be in the mix this season.

Beyond that, he had as many targets as Herbert, he had a short down and distance run, and he had six snaps in the two-minute drill. This is not someone who is going to lose their role at any time.

Nobody is saying that Foreman will take over this backfield, but rather that he will consistently be in the mix. Every once and a while it will be Foreman who makes that catch and turns it up field, or Foreman who is on the field when the seas part. It can easily be Foreman who scores the short-yardage touchdown, which is all of the fantasy points. More than that, an injury to Herbert or Johnson opens a big door for Foreman as well.

The cost is free, so the risk is nothing. If you want to add a stash at the bottom of your bench, you could do worse than someone who was getting real work with the starters in the first half of the first game of the season.
