It seems every offseason brings similar nonsense for the Chicago Bears. As long as the quarterback position is in question, chaos will ensue amongst fans on social media.
Speaking of social media, the latest bit of news that has fans in a tizzy may or may not be actual news.
Apparently, Justin Fields has chosen to unfollow the official Bears account on Instagram.
Does it matter if Justin Fields unfollowed the Bears on Instagram?
Before we jump to conclusions, can anyone actually verify that Fields followed the Bears in the first place? Sure, it might seem odd that Fields wouldn't folllow the Bears in the first place. But, that's a question worth asking.
Additionally, if you take a look at his Instagram account as of right now, you'll still see plenty of Chicago Bears-related material.
In his bio, he still lists "Chicago Bears." His profile picture is of him in a Bears uniform. He still has posts of him in a Bears uniform. So, how big of a deal is this, really?
There are other recent posts on social media suggesting Fields then decided to follow Atlanta Falcons players like Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts and Drake London with folks insinuating that could mean Fields winds up in Atlanta.
Again, we are jumping the gun on this one. Take a look at Fields' follow list. He follows players from every NFL team, so for us to try and make something of nothing, here, seems a bit silly.
Now, whether or not you buy into the "unfollow-gate 2024" parable is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. At this stage in the offseason, the writing seems to be on the wall. More and more, there are big-time sources that have publicly stated they think the Bears are going to wind up trading Fields.
ESPN's Adam Schefter even recently gave us the belief Fields will be traded, and he's about as big of a name as there is in this industry.
The question now becomes, where will Fields be traded and for what type of return? With the 2024 NFL Combine taking place next week, that seems to be a likely time period for such a move to cultivate. Stay tuned. We could see a deal happening in the very near future.
