The offseason has plenty of action left. Free agency is not over and I would not count out the Chicago Bears adding a few players via free agency or even with a trade. I recently came up with three under-the-radar free agents the Bears could add on offense, and I also pointed out a few defensive ends Ryan Poles could trade for before the start of the season. One of those defensive ends is already off the table -- Carl Lawson restructured his contract to stay with the Jets.

After focusing on the offensive side of the ball, now I'm going to look at the defensive side. There are some guys who could be added prior to the start of the season who could push to make an impact weekly. The names I am about to list are not going to be guys who are likely to push for a starting role, but they could push to make the back end of the roster. They could find themselves in rotational roles, or they could become a force on special teams.

The Chicago Bears still have plenty of holes to fill and cash to spend

Ryan Poles has done an admirable job of tearing down the house Ryan Pace built and is now rebuilding a new, hopefully, better house. Poles' patience has been admirable, even if Bears fans have not shown the same capacity. Now, it is important to see how he can finalize the roster for 2023 and still build for 2024 and beyond. I do not expect the team to make the playoffs, but the schedule is definitely more favorable this year than last.
