10 Bears players and coaches who won't be back in 2024
By Ryan Heckman
This season has been an utter disappointment for the Chicago Bears, in every aspect.
Currently at 2-6 and looking like a team headed for another top-5 pick in next year's draft, the Bears have major issues. They've parted with two assistant coaches due to HR/workplace issues. Their starting quarterback is injured and has seen his reputation undeservingly smeared on national television.
For some reason, we're supposed to believe head coach Matt Eberflus when he says the culture within the organization is "outstanding."
There is no doubt, major changes are coming in 2024. Regardless of how the rest of the season goes, I think it is safe to say the following 10 players and coaches will not return next year.
1. Matt Eberflus, Head Coach
The writing is on the wall for Matt Eberflus. He currently has the worst winning percentage in the history of the organization, with a record of 5-20 since taking over. There isn't much to say that the fans don't already know, here.
Eberflus is as good as gone, and I think everybody knows it. The only question is, when will he be fired? Chicago has never fired a coach during the season, so the odds say he'll be fired immediately following Week 18. But, you never know.
2. Luke Getsy, Offensive Coordinator
If Eberflus is gone, you can bet offensive coordinator Luke Getsy is, too. Eberflus and Getsy are the low-hanging fruit, here. It shoudl come as no surprise for both of them to be let go. The Bears' offense has failed to cater to Justin Fields' strengths and has instead attempted to morph him into something he's not.
So much for Getsy being one of the next great head coaching candidates. He has totally self-sabotaged during his tenure in Chicago.
