Could the Chicago Bears trade Justin Fields to this division foe?

As the offseason is officially here, the questions about what the Chicago Bears will do at quarterback are heating up. At this point, the question is less about what they will do and more about who they will trade Justin Fields to and what the return will be. If the Minnesota Vikings had the best offer for Justin Fields, would it be smart for the Chicago Bears to take it?

Would the Minnesota Vikings trade the Chicago Bears for Justin Fields?

Initial Bears fans logic is nervous about trading him to a rival. It would be so Bears to see him, under the play calling of Kevin O’Connell, throwing to Justin Jefferson, TJ Hockenson, and Jordan Addison and having so much success against his old team for years to come. However, the Bears cannot fear what might happen, and they have to trade Justin Fields for the best offer on the table. If that is the Minnesota Vikings, so be it.

Speaking of Hockenson, we have seen the Vikings trade within the division under this front office before. This would not be rare for them.

The Vikings are a good destination for Fields. As noted, a lot is in place aside from the quarterback. They have had to make a huge decision on Kirk Cousins, who will probably get closer to $40M this offseason despite having a torn Achilles. Would the Vikings be better off with Justin Fields on a $6M deal next year? He would be younger, cheaper, healthier, and there is an upside to his play that the Vikings know is likely tapped out with Cousins.

The Vikings have to think of a pivot, and even if they bring back Cousins, they probably need someone for the start of the season. This puts them firmly in the Justin Fields discussion. If they are going to make a big offer, the Chicago Bears cannot just hang up because it is a division rival.
