The Chicago Bears are almost certainly going to trade Justin Fields this offseason. Now, the question is more about what the return will be and what team might trade for Fields. One team that cannot be missed is the Washington Commanders. Why would they trade for Justin Fields?
Could Washington Commanders trade the Chicago Bears for Justin Fields?
As you may know, the Washington Commanders currently hold the number two overall pick. While a lot of the talk is surrounding whether the Commanders will trade up to number one, that would take two to tango. If the Chicago Bears do not want to trade off the top pick, they will not.
Most fans and media will assume that the Commadners will just take the second-best quarterback if that is the case, but it may not be a complete lock. The Commanders may rank one of these quarterbacks as their top option, but they are not as high on the others. If the Bears take their guy, they will not just take the next guy because everyone wants them to. They could take Marvin Harrison.
If that was the case, it would set them up to trade for Justin Fields. The Commanders would know that the Bears took a quarterback, and if they did not trade Fields by then, they would know that the offers were not coming in hot. Washington could play it cool, pretend they are drafting a quarterback at two, and then shake things up by adding Fields on the cheap and getting the top receiver in the draft as well.
The odds are that the Commanders sit at two and take a quarterback, but the Chicago Bears have to be prepared if that does not happen. What if the Washington Commanders offer for Justin Fields instead?
