The Chicago Bears host the Carolina Panthers in Week 5 and D.J. Moore wanted to make sure his former team knows they made a mistake trading him. After five years with the Panthers, who spent a first-round pick on Moore in 2018, he was traded to the Bears in 2023 where he finished with over 1,300 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
While Moore and the Bears offense got off to a slow start (having a rookie quarterback can do that to an offense sometimes), he's making sure the Panthers are reminded of what they're missing. With a little under six minutes to go in the first quarter and the Bears trailing 7-0, Moore scored his second touchdown of the season to tie the game up.
Moore had been held out of the end zone in the Bears' first three games of the season but the entire offense was struggling. They appear to be finding their stride now and Moore is benefitting from it, scoring his first touchdown of the season last week against the Rams and now finding number two against the Panthers.
D.J. Moore scores a TD against his former team
The Panthers sent Moore to Chicago as part of the massive deal for them to move up to number one overall in 2023 to select Bryce Young. Moore immediately made his presence felt in the Windy City and the Bears 100% won that trade considering that Young was so bad that he was benched after two games this year.
The Bears had a lot of expectations this year after taking Caleb Williams with the first pick of the 2024 NFL Draft but the first three games were filled with disappointment. The offense struggled to do much of anything but now we're seeing some magic happen on that side of the ball and Moore has definitely helped play a part in that.
As of this writing, Moore had two grabs for 57 yards and a touchdown. Let's see if he can continue to have a big day against his former team.
Edit -- Make it two touchdowns D.J. Moore against his former team!
