Outside of the state of the offensive line, one of the Chicago Bears' biggest concerns following their Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans was the health of veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen.
After Allen was able to play through a heel injury in Week 1, the veteran was among the team's inactive players this past Sunday. While the Bears have continued to suggest it is a heel issue for Allen, recent speculation has suggested he is dealing with plantar fasciitis. Considering plantar fasciitis is not an injury that recovers during a season, the fear is that Allen will be dealing with this for the remainder of the year.
Allen did not practice on Wednesday and it's a concerning trend since he sat out of practice all of last week. If Allen is unable to return to the practice field on Thursday for the Bears, his status for the Bears' Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts will be in question.
Teven Jenkins was also among the Bears' players to not practice on Wednesday. While speaking to reporters prior to practice on Wednesday, Matt Eberflus was confident that Jenkins would be ready to go by Sunday. While Matt Pryor filled in for Jenkins on Wednesday, Eberflus did confirm there are no planned changes for the Bears' starting offensive line this week.
First Chicago Bears' injury report for Week 3
Jenkins wasn't the only starting offensive lineman on the injury report. Nate Davis was listed with a groin injury. It hasn't been a strong start to the season for Davis, as he has missed blocking assignment after blocking assignment. Of course, Davis' struggles to open the season come after a preseason where he was hardly available due to injury. There can't be much more trust that the Bears' coaching staff has in Davis. If anything, the injury could be how the Bears sneak change through to the starting offensive line on Sunday.
The Bears' defense battled in the trenches against the Texans this past Sunday. So many defensive linemen are listed on the injury report, which is not a complete surprise. There isn't any real reason for concern, however.
