We provided plenty of content yesterday after Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus both spoke on the first day of the 2024 NFL Combine. Ryan Poles did a better job straddling the questions and comments about the quarterback situation. Matt Eberflus tried, but he might have tipped his hand a little too much when describing what he wants to see in their quarterback. Some attributes aligned with Justin Fields, while others not so much. The Chicago Bears need to make a decision soon though.
When asked about a preferred timeline, Ryan Poles stated he'd prefer to be done tomorrow — clearly indicating that the sooner a decision is made about the quarterback position, the better. Ryan Poles also talked about how if the Chicago Bears were to move on from Justin Fields, he would like to do right by him. This is somewhat vague, but earlier he talked about how they chose to release Cody Whitehair and Eddie Jackson early to give them the best opportunity to find a team elsewhere. This should mean we will have some sort of decision (trade announcement?) before or shortly after the NFL Combine.
Well, one former NFL quarterback warns Ryan Poles about which path at the quarterback position he must take.
Boomer Esiason warns Ryan Poles that he should be fired if...
There are plenty of supporters of the Chicago Bears retaining Justin Fields as their quarterback in 2024. The majority of the others are on record that they believe drafting Caleb Williams first overall is the answer. Then, there are a few who think one of the other quarterbacks in this draft class is the answer. Now enters Boomer Esiason who not only chose to be on the Caleb Williams side of things, but he threw gasoline on the fire when he said if Ryan Poles does not draft Williams with the first-overall pick then he should be fired.
“They’re taking this kid right here, and if they don’t take this kid, then Ryan Poles should be fired,” Boomer Esiason said on the Boomer and Gio show.
Whether you agree with Boomer or not, everyone can agree winning $150 on a $5 bet is the best. You can do the same by clicking this link and signing up for FanDuel, depositing $10 into your account and betting $5 on anything you want. If that $5 bet wins, you get $150 in bonus bets from FanDuel. You can even pick a -1000000 favorite to bet $5 on and you'd still get the $150 if that bet wins. It's the best deal out there.
Esiason broght the heat. Will Ryan Poles fall in line or will he remain steady and make the patient decision? The writing appears to be on the wall for Fields, but you can tell Poles respects him and that makes things more difficult.
