The Chicago Bears will be looking into a lot of their rivals to see who they pluck away in free agency. Signing a player from the Detroit Lions is big because it could help the Bears and hurt the Lions at the same time. Which players on the Lions' roster could end up being targets for Chicago this offseason?
Could the Chicago Bears find pass-rush help from the Detroit Lions in free agency?
The Chicago Bears are going to need some help finding edge rushers this offseason, and Detroit has a trio of rushers set to hit free agency. First is Charles Harris. Harris was a former first-round pick, and while he did not live up to that billing with the team that drafted him, he caught a new life with the Lions.
Harris broke out with 7.5 sacks in 2021, but injuries have held him back, and he has just 2.5 sacks in the past two years. However, he went from 11 pressures on 152 pass-rush attempts in 2022 to 24 pressures on 199 pass-rush attempts in 2023.
Another name to consider is Romeo Okwara. Okwara has been with Detroit since 2018, but injuries started to take away from his game in 2021. He posted 61 pressures in 2021, but has 38 in three seasons since then. Still, the 29-year-old has some juice and would be better than Rasheem Green in a similar role. Harris is the bigger name, but both would improve the Chicago Bears pass rush in free agency.
