Chicago Bears president Kevin Warren provided a major update on the team's plan for a new stadium while speaking with reporters at the annual NFL meetings on Tuesday morning.

Reporting for much of the past month has suggested that the Bears have shifted their focus to the lakefront for the location of their new stadium and official plans may be released soon.

The comments from Warren continue to emphasize that the team truly is focused on remaining in Chicago instead of relocating to Arlington Heights.

The Bears have been in a property tax dispute with the Arlington Heights School District for much of this past calendar year. Recently, Arlington Heights did propose a tax bill in the first sign that the two sides could reach a compromise.

The Chicago Bears' focus on a new stadium remains on the lakefront with plans set to be released soon.

When the report first surfaced earlier this month that the Bears shifted their stadium plan to the lakefront, a key piece was that the team would be investing $2 million towards the project. Initial reporting has yet to provide the full details of the plan other than the fact that it would be a domed stadium.

Until the plans are officially announced with a rendering of the new stadium, it remains entirely possible that this remains a negotiating tactic by Warren. Though, the more that Warren speaks on the project, there does appear to be genuine efforts being made toward the Bears remaining in the city.

In terms of what the Bears would do with the Arlington Heights property, Warren confirmed that the team would still own the land.

Whether it is indeed a new stadium on the lakefront or a pivot back to Arlington Heights, it would seem that the next development will be the revealing of the official stadium plan by the Bears.
