The 2024 Chicago Bears may move in a direction that no other Bears' team has gone in the past--a high-powered offense that is capable of winning games.
Offense has been the focus of the Bears' offseason as the team's prized additions have been D'Andre Swift, Keenan Allen, and Gerald Everett. The moves have all been made in order to create a soft landing spot for Caleb Williams once he is selected with the first overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Williams completed his Pre-Draft visit with the Bears on Wednesday, checking the final box before he becomes the face of the franchise at the quarterback position.
The Bears had another high-profile Pre-Draft visit on Thursday as they hosted Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze.
Rome Odunze should be the player that the Chicago Bears target with the ninth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Everything that the Bears have done this offseason is to ensure that Williams succeeds. To that end, Ryan Poles needs Williams to succeed. If Williams falls into the category of quarterback busts that Justin Fields and Mitch Trubisky fell into while with the Bears, Poles is going to be out of a job.
That may be a driving force behind the decision that the Bears have with the ninth overall selection. While Matt Eberflus may prefer that the Bears add a defensive end, it may be more likely that the team makes another addition to the offense. If Odunze is available when the Bears are on the clock at nine, there should be no hesitation with the pick.
Considering the likelihood that Allen is only with the Bears for one season, selecting Odunze would ensure that the team has stability at the wide receiver position for multiple seasons.
