2. Chicago Bears must have eyes on Gervon Dexter

The Chicago Bears brought Gervon Dexter into Halas Hall for a pre-draft visit so you know that there is interest. Considering they had Carter in as well, they probably were debating to take Carter at nine, or wait and see if Dexter is a good backup plan. If Carter did not pass their character concerns, and Dexter did, they may like the discount.

The issue with Dexter is that while he looks the part, it is not there yet. He had two sacks last season and just 2.5 the year before that. His pad level can get high at times, and while he can look like a menace on one play, he looks out of place on the next. He also lacks the finish.

However, in the moments when you see the high, you get really excited. Dexter is interesting because he was recruited by the same coaching staff that had Chris Jones at Mississippi State. Dexter played the same role as Jones in the same defense. Jones fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in round two. Does Ryan Poles know that coaching staff well from his days with the Chiefs, and does he think he can find himself a newer version of Chris Jones?

Jones was drafted for what he can be, and that is what Dexter is going to be taken for as well. We will see soon enough if the Bears believe in his traits or if they also were turned off.
