Chicago Bears Offseason Move No. 1: Trade involving first-overall pick

Now we come to the top of the list. The trade that Ryan Poles pulled off with the Carolina Panthers changed the dynamic of this franchise. Even if things fail miserably this year, Poles has the ability to look at a new quarterback in 2024, add even more weapons for Justin Fields, or look to land one of the top defenders. With multiple first-round picks, the Chicago Bears hold a great deal of draft power again.

Maybe the best part of the trade though was the addition of D.J. Moore. Moore is a true WR1 with over 5,000 receiving yards throughout his five-year career. Moore gives Justin Fields the weapon he needs to take that next step in the all-important year three of his career. Ryan Poles turned one of the weakest positional groups last year into one of the best this season. The combination of Moore, Chase Claypool, and Darnell Mooney is a fantastic first three, but even the likes of Equanimeous St. Brown and Dante Pettis round out a strong grouping. Fields doesn't have excuses in 2023.

There are multiple moves that have been made this offseason. These are the top three in order the way I see them. Ryan Poles has made it clear that he is building this team up in a different way than we saw before. He has been calm and non-reactionary to the major ebbs and flows of each offseason. He never seems to panic. This is what looks to set him apart from the other general managers we have seen here in Chicago in the past.
