We knew the Chicago Bears wanted to sign an edge rusher, the question was whether they could get the deal done before the draft, or if they were best to wait until after the 2023 NFL draft. We also noted that Rasheen Green should be on the team's radar, as he is one of the best free agents available at their biggest area of need. With that in mind, what are three things that Chicago Bears fans should know about this new signing?in

3. Rasheem Green brings youth to Chicago Bears, despite experience

Rasheem Green was a third-round pick back in 2018. So, he is entering his fifth NFL season. Despite that, he will only be 26 years old this season. He was one of the youngest players in his draft class, and now that he is known as a second-tier free agent, he actually is just hitting the age when his best play may come.

This is what the Chicago Bears have been known to do, and it is why we circled Rasheem Green as someone the team would likely want to sign. Ryan Poles does not like signing guys who had their best days behind them. He is paying for what these players can do for Chicago, not what they did for other teams.

So, when fans wanted the known 30-year-old, he had his eyes on the 26-year-old. Still, Green comes in with some experience, He played sparingly as a rookie, but then he really started to see the field. Green has 2,619 snaps, and 1,556 pass rush snaps in his career.

Last season he played 567 for the Houston Texans. His career high is 847 snaps in 2021. For comparison, Trevis Gipson led Chicago with 641 snaps last season. Guys like Gipson and Dominique Robinson do not have seasons with 800 snaps in their careers.

Of those snaps 2,211 were on the edge, but Green did slide inside for 395 snaps.
