Week 2 proved one thing true about the Chicago Bears' defense

The Chicago Bears' loss to the Houston Texans in Week 2 had a familiar look to it, which has many fans frustrated. However, most of that frustration is geared toward the offense, as the defense did their job. The Texans scored just three points in the second half as the Bears crawled back into the game. This performance should be a statement that the secondary can hang with any team this season.

You will not find many better groups of receivers than the Texans. Between Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Stefon Diggs, they have three legitimate threats, and with CJ Stroud throwing the ball, the group is lethal.

Early on, it looked as if this group was going to knock out the Bears' rising secondary. Collins had a big day with 135 yards, a lot of that coming against Tyrique Stevenson. However, Diggs and Dell combined for 34 yards as the rest of the group was held in check. Collins came out hot but was not nearly as productive in the second half.

The Chicago Bears' secondary is among the best groups in the NFL.

According to PFF Stevenson allowed seven catches on targets for 96 yards. However, Jaylon Johnson allowed just 32 yards on five targets, and Kyler Gordon allowed only 22 yards on four targets.

Stevenson has not been quite at his best this year, but most of the yards he allowed have been to Calvin Ridley and Collins. Meanwhile, the other two cornerbacks have been stellar.

Week 2 was one of the toughest tests this defense can face, and the Bears' secondary stood up to the challenge. Moving forward, they should have the swagger that they are the best secondary in the NFL, and it is hard to find another group that matches up tougher on paper. Look for the secondary to only improve from here, which is impressive considering how good they look right now.
