When D.J. Moore is at his best, there are maybe 10 better receivers in the entire NFL.

He is a bona fide number one and someone who can change games just by getting the ball in his hands. That is why Moore checks in at number five on the most important Chicago Bears ranking.

It says a lot that, even in a down year when fans were irritated with him, he still posted 966 yards. It speaks to the reality that even in a room that is starting to fill up, the team still needs him; he is that good.

Rome Odunze is a former top ten, and his ascension is massively important for the Bears this year. Luther Burden is a rookie who will become more involved as the year progresses.  However, if we are talking about a real run, Moore is still the best bet to emerge as the number one who has another year or two of big seasons left in him.

Last year, Moore was unable to get on the same page as Caleb Williams. Perhaps it was because of Shane Waldron, or maybe it was because he struggles to play well with someone like Williams. Whatever the case, the team cannot make the run that they would like to if they cannot get the best out of Moore this season.

If Moore is still in a funk or they end up moving on from him, it may end up being a wise move in the longer term, but it will not get them to win right now. Without his impact, the team is looking for too much from their young and unproven contributors. Instead, these players should have splash chances because of the attention that Moore will create as the top threat. Overall, it makes him a clear case for the top five.
