The ascension of Kyler Gordon has been an appreciable thing to see. Now, entering his fourth season with the Chicago Bears, he has become one of the team's staples and comes in at number six on our roster ranking.
Ranking Most Important Bears on 2025 roster: Number 6 Kyler Gordon
Last season, Gordon had 75 tackles, five pass deflections, four tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries, two quarterback hits, and one forced fumble in 15 games.
After his first season, there were legitimate concerns about him being a bust. However, that season also featured 295 of his 321 career snaps on the outside. With just 26 snaps over the past two seasons and just four snaps outside last season, Gordon has become a full-time slot player over the last two years.
The results are one of the true impact slot players and a new contract extension. Gordon is well-suited for the role due to his size, agility, and physical nature.
He is one of the better-run defenders in the slot, and few can blitz and pressure as effectively off the edge. His agility allows him to pass off receivers in zone coverage, but also click and close on running backs in man coverage. His size can limit against specific tight ends, and big slots, but he has the coverage ability to hang with them.

If the Chicago Bears are going to do anything this year, they need their secondary to be elite. They invested far more in the back half than the front and this is where the home grown talent lies. The team paid Kyler Gordon, signaling they are not expecting any issues from him in the future, and he is close to one of the five most important players when it comes to how this season will play out.
